This photo is very similar to one which appears in Garbutt & Marsh's Around Barrow-in-Furness in Old Photographs, p. 157, but is slightly different. The Garbutt & Marsh photo is dated 1906, and is captioned as follows: "A village band, possibly Askam, followed by the Boys' Brigage, wends its way up the steep hill to Ireleth church for the Sunday school flower service in 1906." |
